» Renie_Burghardt - Digging in the Dirt!

Very funny article, Joan. And the pictures are absolutely great! Hmm, I have 3 dogs, and although they're not Pyr's, they, too, like to dig. How much is a pile of dirt, anyway? smile Thank you for a most enjoyable read! Take care. Renie

» SWALKER0 - Great article!

And the pictures are terrific! I have never had a dog that was a big digger. In fact, my poodles didn't even seem to know how to dig. My "granddog", however, is working on a cavern at the corner of my patio. She may not work on it for months, and then suddenly the dirt will fly again. Good for you, to recognize your Pyrs' need to dig and provide a way for them to do it. They're lucky to have you.

Thank you, Renie!
Since only a third of the load of soil was designated Pyr Hill, I guess it cost about $30. LOL That comes out to $6 per dog currently in residence. Hmmm.. That's a good value! Better then some toys I've purchased. :-)

Sherrie,
It's possible your "granddog" lacks the power of concentration that Pyrs possess! LOL

It has rained all day yesterday--and now I wonder if I should have added a warning to this article. Restrict access during inclement weather. 5 white dogs went out, and 5 minutes later it looked like I had Newfs instead of Pyrs! :-D

» Joy Butler - Digging Dogs

What a cute article and an ingenious solution! My dogs seem to like to dig the most in spring. Sometimes my spitz sticks her white face into the hole and comes back in the house with a black face instead! Other times my German Shepherd does the digging while she stands behind him and snaps at the dirt as it flys by! Great fun!

Joy, I guess I should have included a warning! It rained for two days in a row here, and when my beautiful, fluffy white Rescues went out to potty it never occurred to me I should restrict their access to their "hill". I now have 5 very dirty dogs! LOL

hmm.. Do you think I can pass them off as Newfs? Nah--guess I'd better get out the shampoo.

Hey Guys!! Bath time!!
Now where did they disappear to? LOL

Heheheh, that must be quite a job, giving all those Pyr's a bath!

Thankfully, no baths were neccessary! :-)
Once they dried off --- I found the dirt. Lovely little piles where each Pyr had laid down to rest after their mud games! All that was required was brushing!

Did I mention Pyr coats are naturally soil resisitant?! :-)

Only question is-- do I sweep it all up and try to put it back in the yard? Or vacumn it up and throw it away? After all, another universe may be depending on the answer.
