» colleenmwilliams - Questions? Comments? Feel free to post them here!

I will respond to any and all questions and comments. Feel free to be off task, I know how it is to be right brained! I test as whole brained actually- right in the middle of left and right... balanced?? No, confused!

Anyway, ask about age appropriate Art activities, lesson plans, places to purchase great Art images, etc. Let me know what you want to know! If I don't know the answer off hand, I'll research it and get back to you as quickly as possible. Have a Creative Day! Colleen

» Renie_Burghardt - Great Suggestions!

Great suggestions, Colleen. Art really should be part of children's lives. When my children were small, we visited museums regularly, and talked about the art we saw there. Art should be a part of everyone's lives, not just a select few "artsy" types. Your topic will help make it a part.

Enjoyed my visit here!

» colleenmwilliams - response

Renee, I am glad that you feel that way. Art is a universal language- children should be taught to understand and "speak" it. I'll be checking out your site soon! Love your signature bug!

» Donnalovesart - Four to 6 year olds

Colleen, my biggest problem in teaching art is coming up with things for children age 4-6. I managed for a year, but I want something new. I've done paper mache clown heads, pinch pots, tempra painting, I need fresh ideas. I have gone brain dead right now. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

» colleenmwilliams - Paper Sculptures

Donna, look at sculptures of all sorts and discuss them- you know the drill smile- then show your 4-6 year olds how to fold paper strips into circles, squares, triangles, etc. Glue these together onto a piece of tagboard building a sculpture out of them. Small children love this activity! They will build playgrounds, houses, animals, etc. You may have trouble getting them to stop!

» Donnalovesart - Wonderful idea

This is such a wonderful idea colleen. I can even have the older kids do the same thing with a more difficult task. Maybe have them curl the paper and crease it in different ways to make different things. Oh thank you. Now I am starting to come up with some ideas. Maybe the creative block is gone. My mind seems clearer now. Thank you very much!!!!!!!
