The Disabled must be Informed Voters.Read the article this discussion is about

» Ryburn - A step further I agree. Voting for those who do not have your best interests on their agenda (ie. proactive change for helping to overcome disability discrimination in our society) is equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot. However, in addition to informed voting, I would also like to suggest becoming part of the solution. I believe that it is even better to take potitical activism a step further by becoming involved directly. By this I mean becoming involved in the political process either by running for political office (often times where decisions are made), working or volunteering for agencies that address human services issues, employee rights, etc. or in organizations that actively work against disability discrimination. These kinds of activities can be great ways to become very informed, and most importantly implement change for the better.-- posted by Ryburn » WilliamR_2 - Thank you for your comment. I agree fully with all you said. The disabled have to become active on issues which effect them because they are the only ones who can talk with authority about the effects which these issues have on them.I would love to see all disabilities unite and join in the fight against discrimination. If they were to unite then they could possibly become the biggest political action group in the world. This would give them political clout and the politicians would listen to us. -- posted by WilliamR_2
