» tabletopphoto - Sure, Why Not I see there is someone who some idea of what is going on in this world. I have to agree with you (in some way) with everything you said, but only all most. Your explanation of the 2 sides are in some way okay, but it leaves out too much. That is fine with me since it leaves a great potential opening for an intelligent discussion-- posted by tabletopphoto » IMADAG2 - Re: Sure, Why Not In response to Sure, Why Not posted by tabletopphoto:I'm assuming the article's talking about the USA's version of what is a liberal or conservative. These definitions seem to differ around the globe. Here in OZ, the Liberal Party..a conservative party..is in power. To accept the position of one is positive, the other negative or even a person is either conservative or liberal on all issues..seems simplistic. Sorry..labels to me are like election promises..far less important than the done deed. It's hard to disagree with the view that changing the status quo on disability is about spending more or spending differently but this might change if specifics are identified. I'm thinking the USA could without blinking its corporate eye..clumsily distribute a billion dollars, like petty cash, and still have problems monitoring any desired outcome. Let alone reach unanimous agreement on money well spent. And not just on disability. Here, a billion dollar distribution would represent monumental assistance..be major news. To me, it's not about the label 'conservative' and 'liberal' but who has the political will and skill to change attitudes. How much taxpayer money should a potential employer really expect to be paid before they see the human rights value and business sense..in employing a disabled person who can work as well as an able bodied person? And what if the disabled person has a lesser work capacity? Money doesn't bring about attitudinal changes...for the better. Advocates for the disabled, here and in the USA..have every right to be impatient. Jeff -- posted by IMADAG2
