» Diana_Pederson - Post Holiday Blues

Hi Michelle:

For the past several years there have been computer equipment purchases in my family (this year just for myself) that has given us a new "toy" to play with. This seems to help us get going again and is planned for financially by not making purchases just before the Holidays or by using gift money towards the purchase.

Tonight I brought home my new Hewlett Packard DeskJet 722C COLOR PRINTER! Also bought AutoSketch so I can start doing landscape plans on my computer. Getting ready to launch a new garden design business in early spring.

I think this pre-planning helps avoid the after holiday depression.

Diana how wonderful you have some new "toy's" to play with smile

I'd love to get some upgrades done on my computer, I worry that my system will not be Year 2000 compliant! I keep entering online contests in the hope that I'll win a new system smile

The past few holiday seasons have been rather frugal for my family.

» annej - feeling crummy physically

One thing contributing to the after holiday blues for me is that I just don't feel very well. The nature of my disability means that when I overdo I pay for it. So my challenge right now is to just be patient with my body, pamper it a bit and trust that eventually I'll feel better.

» Diana_Pederson - Frugal Christmases

Frugal Christmases are the rule for my son and myself. He is finally beginning to see why Mom says "no" to so many purchases he thinks are absolutely essential. Besides, I strongly prefer emphasizing the religious reasons for the holiday season rather than the commercialism.

Working in retail through a holiday season showed me just how commercial Christmas has become--even worse than I thought. The customers are extremely rude too which doesn't make it easier.

Had to scrimp pretty hard this year to get any upgrade. If it hadn't been a Christmas present from my parents combined with a year's no interest financing, I wouldn't have these "toys". However, their main purpose is to help me get a home-based business going to supplement my minimum wage paying employment. When my disability supplement runs out I won't be able to pay my bills.

Without suite101's extra income I wouldn't even have internet access.

Do you know how to get into your bios of the computer to see if you can
take a 4-digit date? If your bios can handle that, then you are 2000
compliant and don't have to worry too much. My son checked mine out over Christmas because the computer is several years old. He says I am fine.
