Thanks for your comments. I hope you enjoy the other stories I have written.

Also, my course titled "Writing Suspense, Detective Fiction, and Thrillers" will start November 11 and go until December 9. I hope you will register if you enjoy these genres. I'm looking forward to teaching the course.

» VonRyansDistress - Halloween....what`s the connection?

I did not read a story about Halloween. I read a story about con-men! The Halloween part was just a coincidence - a date in the diary! By the way, can you honestly expect me to believe that people about to commit a crime would spend over an hour sitting in a vehicle on show to the whole neighborhood, parked in the street where they plan to commit that crime when even the two people whom they are impersonating could walk by at any moment?! And, if they are so professional, are you sure they would leave the vehicle`s lights on, flatten the battery, and ensure they do not make a clean getaway?! Well, that is my comment on the story`s content. Now on to other elements: I feel the delivery was stilted and wooden, the vocabulary was grade school quality and the sentence construction was unadventurous, having an almost ESoL feel to it as if avoiding the necessity to punctuate. Please feel free to reply to my comments. ( If you or any other readers would like cost-free guidance in grammar, composition or vocabulary usage please contact me. Please note: I do not reply to abuse.)

I presume you made this post to bring in business. However, may I suggest you use another approach? Putting your words out there for others to see is scary for any writer. When I choose someone to edit for me, I choose someone who is a skilled writer, certainly, but also someone who can improve my writing while still making me feel that I am doing a good job. I have a friend who does that for me. She makes me believe in myself and encourages me to continue working to improve. Although she does this as a gift, she is the sort of person I would pay to help me out if I needed to pay someone. I would be reluctant to hire someone whose comments are entirely biting without any words of kindness or encouragement. I'm sure you have a great deal of editing skill and are able to read critically. A spoonful of compassion and mentorship will make you an excellent editor.

Well you offer cost-free guidance Mr. Von Ryan, and I can see why. After that display I doubt anyone that wanted constructive criticism would contact you.

You'll note the title was "A Scary Halloween Night." From your comments, obviously that means that the story must contain goblins, ghosties and beasties? How narrow minded.

Personally, I felt that your delivery was rather rude and you're vocabulary rather abusive and whether you reply to this message or not - I care not one iota. Also, if you'd like cost-free guidance in compassions and manners, I'd be happy to provide it.
