Extraterrestrial Securities: What Are They?: Re: Re: A brief overview of the campaign called Lunar Stock Exc

» BoutrosRND - Re: Re: A brief overview of the campaign called Lunar Stock Exc In response to message posted by Pharcyde:I went to the website to have a look around and subsequently contacted the President of the Lunar Stock Exchange, Rick White, to pose some questions. Apparently people actively trade shares of companies that do not exist, but that could exist as part of a lunar settlement. These investors seem to anticipate that if they should happen to be invested in the first few companies to actually make good (assuming any of them ever do exist), then they will be "in the money". It's awfully speculative, but I can see what they're thinking. The difficulty I still have personally is simply the probability that none of the companies will ever exist. As a side note, I hope you're not anticipating being able to enforce your "property rights" on the moon. I have a sneaking suspicion that no court of law will uphold "ownership" of land that does not entail the owner's ability, either personally or by proxy, to exercise his will over said land. Now, once somebody lands on the moon and opens up a real estate office, that's when I'll buy land on the moon. Robert Davis -- posted by BoutrosRND
