» TCfromKY - Great Elephant (?) Article

I was wondering how that variagated pachysandra was coming along?

An Oklahoman friend of mine sent me some of her pachysandra last year and I planted it in my hosta garden, under blue spruce trees. I'm anxious to see how it makes it through the winter here.

Do you think it will do okay since it came from a milder climate?

T.C.,

What's with the (elephant)? Did I make a mistake somewhere that I didn't catch?

Glad you liked the article smile The variegated Pachy grows much slower than the others...I can't see the one at my friend's house since it is under snow and ice. I pass it by each time I visit here. I am loath to disturb this cold waeather mulch covering.

T.C., as long as the pachy your friend sent to you has established good roots there should be no problem with surviving.

I know of no instances of "regional / geographic genetic variation" in pachy as there is some plants species..ie flowering dogwoods, etc.

Again, thanks for the good words.

G.

Thanks for introducing me to pachysandra, Georgene. It looks like a beautiful groundcover and it was interesting to read of its care. You're right, the tendency to let it be on its own would be easy. You point out, though, that's not wise.

Hope your New Year is full of catalogs and great ideas for gardens!
