Antidepression Medication and Sexual Side Affects

I am currently taking Effexor XR for depression and anxiety and it has been a huge help. The only side affect I've really noticed is that it has lowered my sex drive a considerable amount.

I was just wondering if anyone else on Antidepression medication has experianced the same thing and if they found anything that helped?

This is one of the most common side effects to the SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.) and Effexor, which also affects the serotonin receptors in the brain. Though the psychiatric literature indicates that Wellbutrin (which does not affect serotonin receptors) is helpful, my patients haven't felt that it is.

You may also want to have your hormones checked, just in case that is contributing to the lowered sex drive.

I am taking 3 different anti depressants! Imagine what my sex drive is like!! I think about it every night before I take my meds, Do I take these and not be depressed? Or do I not take them and make my husband (and myself) feel good? Much to my husbands chagrin, I take them every night.
But, if anyone knows how to improve a woman's sex drive, I'm all ears.
