» ruby43 - We all experience depression at one time or another...

Especially as women, we wear so many hats in our lives, that we sometimes get overwhelmed from responsibilities of being a woman, wife, mother, worker, friend..etc. We are natural caretakers and nurturers, so we get burned out when we give and give, without recieving or recharging our energy. Then when a major life change occurs, we get stuck, trying to find a way to deal and cope with it. Whether it be a death in our network of friends or family, a divorce, a marriage, the kids growing up, or a job change...it all adds to our stress level. We must be ever changing, ever evolving, through life's encounters. Many of us do not seek professional help, because we deal with it as "being a part of life". I believe we should be able to feel emotions, as they are a part of us, but when it becomes overwhelming...to seek help..either from a professional, or clergy, or even friends. Support is the key, from wherever we choose to get it. It is healthier to seek help, than to "mask" our pain through alcohol, drugs or some other form. We need to understand and accept one another, shortcomings and all.
