Mind would definitely be creating a computer desk cabinet out of two microwave carts I bought at a yard sale! I still need to paint it and add the keyboard shelf, but it holds everything and only cost me $10.00! smile

We are constantly devising ways to create more storage. When we re-did our basement and put up new drywall before paneling, my husband left some spaces open between the studs. He made a narrow closet for brooms and other cleaning tools in one space, and built shelves and a wine rack in another.

I found an old cabinet that must have once been part of a doctor's office. It now holds all my linens and my dishes. Here is a picture: <img src="http://www.suite101.com/files/topics/174..." width=200 height=300>.

We converted an old mahogany sideboard into a kitchen sink counter. We had to fidge the center drawers a bit to make room for the plumbing, so they are quite short - but plenty big enough for dishtowels and sponges and such. Then we topped it (and the dishwaher beside it) with a wall from an old marble lavatory stall that we salvaged when they remodeled our office buiding.

On a much smaller scale - I got tired of looking at the ranks ofpill bottles that the two of us seem to have amassed - the bedside tables looked like an infirmary. So I got small decorative glass bottles and painted them with glass paints, trying whenever possible to incorporate a symbol that would clue us into what the contents of each were - like a heart on my husband's heart medicine, or a fish on the Omega-3. (Actually, I also marked the bottom of each bottle with the prescription name). Suddenly we have a decorative display instead of a medicine cabinet.

Those are great storage solutions, Barbara. I really like the reuse of the cabinet in the photo. smile

Using a wall as a top for cabinets, now that's really creative. I may have to borrow your idea of decorating the bottles for meds. Would really make my dresser look better. smile
