» ghaziya - What about other dance forms?

I was disappointed to come to the "Dance" section of Suite101's Performing Arts section and find that it is overwhelming dominated by drill team content. I find it rather difficult to believe that the Five Very Best sites on the ENTIRE worldwide web all happen to be focused specifically on drill teams. What about ballet, jazz, Scottish Highland, belly dance, international folk dance, and others?

My interest in Suite101 STRONGLY declined when I saw how narrow the dance category is. This suggests that there's no point in wasting my time looking at other categories, either, because they'll all probably be similarly limited.

Dear ghaziya,

I am the Managing Editor for Performing Arts. I agree that there are not many other forms of dancing other than the ones you mentioned.
If you look this week you will find we are now including Indian Dance form. Unfortunately we can only publish what is given to us. If you would like to write about any other dance form please use the application form to volunteer your services.
Thanks, we'd love to hear from you.
John

Dear Ghaziya,

I'm quite belated in responding to your posting, but I wanted to make sure that I said something since I am the editor for this area.

As John Bottomley said, Suite101.com has topics that editors have chosen to do. Topics are not assigned. There was once a general dance topic, but I believe the editor for that left. There is now a tap dancing topic, though.

Thanks again for your interest in dance. I hope you did enjoy the information you found about dance/drill teams. Take care and God bless.
