» Barbara Nicholson Bell - I envy you!

The snow has only just left the yard, but the weatherman says we'll be getting some this weekend. Nonetheless, snowdrops have appeared and tiny buds of crocus and daffs are peeping up through the old matted leaf mulch. Too soon to uncover them!

Yes, I live in the Northeast, zone 5, and it's been a very long winter!

just started to bloom. I always enjoy them so much this time of year.

I didn't know so many daffodils came from Oregon. That's great!

Yesterday when I wrote my article, the temperature was in the 70s with a hot wind blowing. Tomorrow we may have snow. It's the spring elevator ride! But it was ever thus!

Yes, lots of great daffodils come from Oregon. Washington State used to be a big growing area; in fact there used to be a daffodil festival in the vicinity of Puyallup, Washington. Last I heard, they still have a festival, but it may be more community-oriented rather than geared to showcasing the daffodils that were grown commercially in the area.

Thanks for the website, Jerri!

I remember an article in the ADS Daffodil Journal many years ago was about the parade with the fabulous floats, which I thought were decorated with daffodils. Glad the festival is still alive and well.

Well, we finally have some bright sun and warm day time air temperatures - "Peeping Tom" was in bloom on Friday, and warmth over the wekend brought "Ice Follies" to just the point of opening - maybe tomorrow smile This is one of my favorites because it is so early and tough...I lierally have hundreds planted throughout the yard.

I'm anxiously waiting to see if my miniatures, tazettas and other cyclamineus made it though our cold, soggy winter.

Yes, Jerri, thanks for the link to the bulb festival...

G.
