» MICKEY89 - CROCHET QUESTION

I AM JUST LEARNING TO CROCHET AND I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME HOW TO DO A SC2TOG? I FOUND THIS IN A PATTERN AND IT DIDN'T HAVE INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO DO IT. I WOULD APPRECIATE SOMEONE WOULD EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW HOW TO DO THIS.

In response to message posted by MICKEY89:

Dear Mickey,

sc2tog (single crochet two together) is a way to decrease in a pattern to provide shaping. It is pretty simple once you know how:

1) draw up a loop in the 1st stitch to be decreased. Do not yarn over (yo) and draw through loops. You should now have 2 loops on hook.

2) draw up a loop in the 2nd stitch to be decreased. Yarn over and draw through all three loops on hook.

That's it! you've decreased what was 2 stitches on the previous row into one stitch. The same principle is used if you are asked to hdc2tog or dc2tog, just leave the last loop of each stitch on the hook, then yo and draw through all loops on hook to decrease.

Good luck with your project.
