Shoaib vs Brett Lee

» Lola_13 - Brett Lee is better I don't think that you can even compare Brett Lee and Shoaib - sure, they both bowl extremely fast. But Brett has greater control of the ball - he bowls decent swing, his yorker is deadly and his line and length is improving. Basically, he doesn't just rely on pace. And I'm not just saying this because I'm an Aussie. I got the chance to see both of these bowlers in the Carlton and United Series. Brett Lee had more wickets and a greater economy rate that Shoaib. But they are both good for cricket as they bring excitement to the game.-- posted by Lola_13 » ahn - Shoaib being the fastest In the C&U series it was a good competition. Brett Lee's max speed was 155.7KPH while that of Shoaib was 155.6 but in the Sharjah Cup Shoaib bowled a ball to Dravid of speed 156.4 or 156.6 and thus balled the second fastest ball of the cricket history. Line and length goes, there is only one way either pace or line and length and it depends on what you aiming at. Moreover, I think that Shoaib got more wickets in C&U series than Brett Lee.-- posted by ahn » bandog - lee v shoaib In the CUB series Shoaib played 10 matches for 16 wickets at 23.25 with an economy rate of 4.76. Lee played 9 matches for 16 wickets at 20.00 with an economy rate of 3.94.All this means is that Lee bowled slightly better in this series according to the figures. According to figures, he's a better test bowler at this stage as well. In South Africa Lee bowled 2 balls at 156kmh, so as far as pace goes they're pretty much on a par.Having said that, Lee is believed to have been favoring his sore ankles, so some believe he's got a few more km left in him. Does anybody know of any other 150kmh+ bowlers floating around? I know that Haywards-151kmh Srinaths-149.5kmh Geoff Allots-146.5kmh Brad Williams-146.5kmh and Donalds been around 150kmh.How quick is Mohammed Zahid or Mohammed Akram? All I know is that all these guys, especially Lee and Shoaib are fantastic for cricket. -- posted by bandog » ahn - All this continues Well no doubt there isnt much b/w Shoaib and Lee. Shoaib is unfit nowdays and he could not play county cricket. He is recovering but all such fast bowlers have very little cricketing life. About Moh'd Zahid and Moh'd Akram, they are fast but not upto the category of Shoaib or Lee. One more thing, Zahid has recovered from back injury but still is not performing well enough to be selected for Paki Top 11.-- posted by ahn » bandog - Pakistans Quicks Ahmad, you obviously have a good knowledge of the Up and coming Pakistani Quicks. How do you rate them? Is their a Wasim Akram or Younis amongst them? Namely Shabbir Ahmed, Kashif Raza (Lahore division) Zahid Saeed (NBP),Saeed Janjua (Customs) as well as the two others. How much publicity do the young quicks get? For example, in Australia except for a select few nobody had even heard of Brett Lee until about 9 months ago. -- posted by bandog » ahn - Continues..... Well about the new quickies from Pakistan. There cant be any Wasim coz there is no one in the world who can compete him. Shabbir is a good one and Pakistani quickies are getting some exposure as they had a A team tour to Kenya, U-15 cup, U- 17 cup. So, they are getting good coverage. I think Pakistan has the most talent in fast bowling department in the whole world but sadly its in crude form.-- posted by ahn » bandog - Slower Lee the 3 Aus Vs SA one dayers are finished.Lee's fastest was 142km, Gillespie (he's back) was 143km off a short run, and Telemachas (could become a real gun) was SAs fastest at 142km. The run up area was slippery but McGrath was about the same as usual. Lee was constantly in the high 130s, so he's either only 90% fit (ankle ops') or lost a bit of confidence with the "chucking" debacle. -- posted by bandog
