I missed this article, Barbara and very glad I have read it now.

Cottage gardens for ever - not fashionable, stylistic architectural gardens for me - and the birds - and the children - and the romantics - and the sensitive gardeners

Well written..I completely identify with your sentiments. Its not much good having the perfectly manicured garden, if you cannot sit and stare, and take time out to quietly view your little oasis.

Thank you for visiting and leaving a note!!

It is so cold and snowy outside right now with more winter weather warnings coming in left and right, it's hard to remember what summer was like out there.

But I can still hear the woodpeckers in the woods, the deer are leaving footprints across the lawn, the birds are sheltering in the rhododendron by the front door and in the forsythia outside my bedroom window.... the squirrels are sooooooooooo busy out there doing I know not what.

The terrariums are growing apace in the kitchen and steam up every morning, the lone African violet with enough sunshine is setting buds.

So there is hope. Pretty soon I can start some seeds.

Dontcha miss it?!

I have to admit though that I am not all that great at the finer points of grooming during the summer -- garden grooming that is. I am just not a neat freak so it never looks manicured. Also, I always get distracted from the chores part and end up enjoying instead. Something tells me that is not all bad in the grander scheme of things.
