This series will be very interesting Barbara.

If an arbor is used or a rustic fence, to make an enclosure, it will be a great excuse to try out one or more of the beautiful rose ramblers

Fences and roses and vines are made for each other -- and a cottage garden should have plenty of roses (if they do well in your area) and plenty of vines. The vines can add great splashes of color in different seasons from spring to fall depending on which one(s) you grow.

You can also use a vine to get double duty -- for example, if you grow a flowering shrub, you can extend the season by allowing a blooming vine to grow over it so there will be another set of flowers in that space of your garden.
