Are you putting in herbs this year? I always seem to add some, especially if we use a wide definition of herb!

Do you prefer a plan that is geometric or freeform for an herb garden? Would you plant a specific herb garden or mix them in with the other plants ?

At my house, the perennial herbs I use most are near the kitchen door in a bed that has evolved to include many different plants. (The annuals are in the veggie garden.) It is roughly a circle and very haphazardly planted as most older beds seem to become -- but it is handy.

A new garden area I am working on this year is sternly rectangular and has a rectangular reflecting pool in the center, surrounded by a berm which will be planted with something as soon as I make up my mind (!) But it is perfect for herbs. Shrubby ones or very low ones, I can't decide. ANy suggestions?
