I had never heard of Peter Tripp or Fatal Familial Insomnia but it only builds the case stronger for the importance of getting enough sleep. I always enjoy your articles.

After his marathon 201 hours awake I have read the psychiatrists overseeing him said he slept for 24 hours, not 13, after which his delusions/hallucinations disappeared.
They certainly made sure he had no opportuity to catch even microsleeps, accompanying him to the bathroom even. So this looks like he really was sleep deprived for 201 hours - but what a cost.
