» Breel - Fibromyalgia and dental problems

Hi, I am new to this site; but I love it so far. I was very happy to find that someone has the same problem I do about teeth. I have only 8 teeth in my mouth and Dec 19, 2002 I am going to a dentist who is going to do a root canal on one of my top teeth, a root canal on my front bottom tooth. I am going to have to have 3 root canals, a replaced crown that fell out and because I have such a horrible overbite with my top plate partial( I don't have a partial in the bottom, and of course my gums have shrunk over the years.)the dentist is going to build my bottom teeth up to help my TMJ problem. I am in constant grinding motion even without my partial; but I dislike the way my teeth fit because they grinded down my bottom teeth(the last dentist I used)to help my new partial fit. I feel like I have a vice in my mouth. I have a bad dental insurance with my job, pays only $750 a year, so I have to hurry for this year, don't have much longer. Then in Jan, 2003 I will have another $750. Of course my out of pocket will be pretty steep; but everyone needs teeth. I got my partial for the first time when I was 32 yrs old. I never had bad gums; but I had chronic panic disorder and constant sickness. I know I had fibromyalgia; but there was not the name back then. Just depression and anxiety was the diagnosis. Good luck to all who have dental problems with this Fibro. Breel

I too have been through the "dental maze" with teeth extractions, root canals, oral surgery, crowns, 3 sinus surgeries only to learn it has only relieved some of my pain problems. The migraines were causing most of the problems but no one bothered to tell me about vascular headaches or Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Thankfully, I was able to discontinue many medications and get relief just from stopping them. I do still recommend you treat the infections because you can get much more serious infections in your brain and bloodstream if you don't let the dentists and ENT physicians treat them. There are associations who have funds to help those who do not have insurance coverage. There are even corporations who are helping, such as Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield had a "Miles for Smiles" program in the state of Nevada. Do your research and I hope you find the funding you need. God Bless.

Breel...If you have chronic dry mouth, you could have sjorgren syndrome which can lead to a variety of dental problems including the losing of your teeth. If you always need something in your mouth to keep it moist and you need to drink something to keep it wet, then talk to your doc. There are excellent treatments now.

I have to look for a magazine that I have. IT is about teeth and pain. And it is about cavities and fillings and the fill-in and the mercury.

I have to go find it nowsmile
