» fallingsnow - FMS and substance P

Thanks to the author of this article. I've had FMS for almost three years and I am going mad with pain. I keep reading about this substance P issue and no one seems to know why they can't block it etc. So your info was particularly helpful. I've been trying to work on hormonal levels. Since 75% are women and they know that is usually remisses during pregnancy I figure there must be a connection. I just read that low estrogen also means low pain threshhold. So I am trying to do natural supplements to increase hormone levels. I am hoping this is the right approach. Has anyone else out there had any sucess along these lines? Has anyone else out there had any sucess at all with FMS?

Thanks,
Falling Snow

In response to message posted by fallingsnow:

Hi Falling Snow, I wasn't aware that fibro usually goes into remission during pregnancy. Actually, I've read that if anything it can exacerbate it. I think that if there's a hormonal connection then anything causing fluctuations would have an impact don't you think?

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that approach, but as you probably know what works for one FMer doesn't necessarily work for another. It sure couldn't hurt I wouldn't think. One of the fibro friends is on a natural supplement program right now, but I don't think it's aimed at increasing her hormone levels.

Let me see what I can find out and I'll get back to you asap okay?

Please do stop by the Fibro Friends Support Group - link's in my signature below. We've all found that support is one of the key elements when it comes to coping with fibro. You'll find lots of updated information, links, resources etc. as well. Hope to see you there..
