» gret - War Thank you, Christine. I lived in Manhattan for a few years, many decades ago - the Cuban Missile crisis and the assassination of John F. Kennedy were what occurred while I lived there, as well as the murders of civil rights activists in the South. I had wanted to take a bus to Selma to go along with them. We were constantly afraid of nuclear conflagration, too. Those were horrid- but removed. I cannot imagine the shock, incredulity, horror, and nausea you must have felt when actually seeing the towers! I have been sickened just seeing it on the tube. I have never sought out scary flicks or enjoyed murder novels or "reality" TV. In my life, the real thing has been stranger than fiction, and certainly very real. I don't need "thrills." Maybe these horrid events will tone down the "entertainment" industry's chasing after harsher and more dreadful crap. I certainly hope so! What could be more horrific than this kind of mass destruction and homicide? I hope the dreadful images will soon become dulled for you; I don't think that any of us will ever be able to forget them.-- posted by gret » blondegeek - Re: War In response to message posted by gret:Thanks Gretchen, for your support. I hope it will become dulled. It hasn't yet. -- posted by blondegeek » Dee57 - Re: Re: War In response to message posted by blondegeek:Dear Christine, I am glad you were not in the WTC. Seeing the devastation 1st hand must have been extremely traumatic. When it's happening, and there is NOTHING you can DO, it is the worst feeling in the world, and especially so when you know people are hurt and dying. If I only had the power to, I would change things so that there were not so many grieving souls,... but only God can do those things,... and I am not God. So I pray for all who have been so touched by this, that there would be a miracle to come out of it, and a reawakening in this country that will last, and not fade with the memory of so much lost in such a senseless way. May God Bless You, and care for you, healing you in your heart, and mind, and taking the devastation away, and giving you a miracle of your own. -- posted by Dee57 » jerrib - Thanks for sharing your poignant feelings, Christine. Just remember we are all in this together. I'm sorry you had to view this in person. I'm sure it will be on your mind forever. Know that we in Washington share your grief, fear and horror. I'm not yet in the frame of mind to view the art. Maybe someday.-- posted by jerrib
