» Renie_Burghardt - The Allure of Orchids
Hi Kathy, wow, you have really sparked my interest in growing orchids. Of course, I'd have to do it indoors, so thank you for the great tips. I think I will try the Cymbidiums, and see what happens. What an interesting article, and I love the photos. Thank you!-- posted by Renie_Burghardt

In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Renie -- I'm delighted that I've motivated you to take the first step to becoming an orchid addict!! And cymbidiums are about the easiest to start with, I think. Light and humidity are probably the two most important things to ensure a happy orchid. Do let me know if any questions arise once you've made your purchase.
I have several orchids indoors (paphs and phals) but my biggest challenge is that my 2 kitties (Gilbert and Sullivan) also adore the orchids .....they show their affection by (not so) gently caressing the orchids with their mouths!! So my poor orchids have teeth marks on their lovely shiny leaves!

I live in the inner city. We have a yard very small in full shade. I think I can scrape up some dappled sun ...if I work at it.
Growing orchids might be just the thing as I certainly can't really grow anything else. much..'cept some ground cover.
I'm in..I thinbk I'll ava go!
