» biogardener - resizing

I have resized dozens of graphics, because I illustrate most of my article. When making a graphic smaller, I have found that two things are needed:
  • to sharpen the contrast
  • to brighten the picture

Both steps can be performed in one window in Adobe PhotoDeluxe, so the process is very fast. When you scale down a graphic it gets darker from the picture being squooshed into a smaller space. I find a lot of Internet illustrations too dark. I can't make them out even when I set the screen on as bright as I can get it. Most people would profit from being told to watch the darkness of their graphics.

In response to message posted by biogardener:

Also sharpening and using the despeckle filters are very useful when resizing and scanning. With Paint Shop Pro 7, my program of choice a lot of these tasks are automated with their photo correction tools. Thank you for your insight.
