...unfortunately, I also love cats, and the two don't seem to mix very well. Still this article is a great reference, and I'll refer to it if I ever do decide to take the plunge and get a feathered friend instead of a furry one!

In response to message posted by dlstang:

You are so right! Sort of. Allow me to explain. The birds that don't mix well with cats, are the type that "flutter" when they fly. Parakeets, Cockatiels, Finches, etc. However the bigger Parrots, get along fine with *most* cats. By this I mean those such as Conures and bigger. Especially true if they have an attitude. If a parrot walk up to a cat with confidence and attitude, the cat usually just doesn't know what to think, and will move away. If you've ever seen this, it's the funniest thing in the world. By the way, a Quaker Parrot is also too small, even though they have the right attitude. So to mix cats and birds, think, bigger parrots. Examples are Conures, Cockatoos, Macaws, Greys, etc. I have a lot of stray cats, and not one of them has ever dared to challenge one of my bigger parrots. For all you Ferret owners, this message has NO bearing on your pets. Ferrets will kill anything!
