Last week, I went out to unload groceries from my car and I saw this huge animal on the fence. I thought it was my yard cat and I was calling kitty, kitty and it turned around and looked me square in the face. I realized the black mask was not my kitty in costume!. He stared for a minute, then jumped into the yard next door. I live in the city (burbs) and this is the third adult I've had in my yard in the last year. One was standing right outside my front door and when I opened it, I nearly fell over. Thank goodness I had a screen door or else I would have just stepped out on its paws. They are beautiful and while I don't deliberatly feed them, they do scavenge the bread I leave for the birds and the uneaten cat food. I know this because the water dishes are nearly always dirty from "washing" of the food and I've seen the tracks. Thanks for a great article, love the pics! -- posted by Veesuite » bjbarton - Re: Masked bandits In response to message posted by JButler:Joy, the day after I saw those two raccoons at Patagonia Lake, some people who were camped near me went to their boat and found all their bait had been stolen. They thought it was a bear, but I think it was the raccoons. They are so clever about getting into things. -- posted by bjbarton
