I thank you for taking the time to remind us, and in such a wonderful way - I really like the way you lead into this article. I have always wanted to plant a magnolia, so especially loved the take of the "perhaps rare" find.

Linda, about the pine cone, I just may put it on a Christmas card if I can find the time. I usually make my own and sometimes sell a few at craft sales.

I started reading Walden this week as our book club is doing the book.

The seeds - he does speak about seeds in Walden and I'm going to look forward to reading more from this man.

Right now I'm working on the front yard of an apartment building where my husband is super/manager (we live there, of course). It's pines, maples, sumacs, etc., and it's a more or less wild place.

This summer I have worked at it, but kept its wild look. Right now, I'm raking, of course and expect after Isobel gets through with Southern Ontario on Friday, I'll be raking more.

Yesterday and today, I really appreciated my work with nature - I was reading Walden during my breaks and thinking of Thoreau and how he would do things.
