Hello Bill,

I enjoyed reading your perspective of the Cold War. I think you are right about the brainwashing. Surely, people in the Soviet Union were being brainwashed, but people in democracies were also being brainwashed. McCarthyism here in the US would seem to be proof of that. Things got way out of hand. If only we had all remembered that we had "nothing to fear but fear itself," so many people would not have had their lives destroyed.

A really interesting article! I enjoyed the feeling of those fuzzy childhood memories...

So funny to hear what people thought about the Soviet Union durin the Cold War! And funny how normal we all turned out -- didn't fear a nuclear attack, didn't hate foreigners. People cried in the streets when Kennedy got shot. If only people knew that about the Russians.
