» Dan_Ellsworth - One minor marketing move, maybe This isn't as global as the article, but just what I thought of at the time. How about coffee, real coffee, as a flavoring? On some desperate days at the office, when neither cola nor coffee seemed enough, I mixed a little instant coffee with just enough hot water to dissolve it, and poured iced cola into the mix. The mixing process was too time-consuming and foamy for everyday office use, but once past the foam I liked the flavor. Now, how about a coffee cola, neat but with all the rich flavor of both constituents?Or (maybe *some*body would like it) just make up some coffee and then carbonate the water. I think it can be done. As a kid who had no interest in drinking coffee, I occasionally enjoyed a coffee-flavored hard candy that came in rolls -- maybe REED's brand or something like that. How about coffee-flavored ice cream? Concentrated coffee syrup for use in sundaes? I read long ago that coffee was used by some old Navy cooks to make excellent gravy. I know no details. ====> It seems that we could begin to establish a checklist for good and "socially aware" coffee purchases, when you add "fair traded" to "shade grown" for starters. -- posted by Dan_Ellsworth
