» SusanJ_3 - Mary Poppins Hi Janice,Thanks for your comment. I have only read the first book, but I enjoyed it. I'm planning to read the rest of the series ASAP, so I will post a follow-up article when I finish. I'm hoping Mary Poppins turns out to be a kinder woman than she appears to be in the first one! -- posted by SusanJ_3 » emeraldcity10 - Mary Poppins Magic I first read the Mary Poppins books when I was a child in school. The books were in the school library.I am now 46 yrs young, and I still read them. I have found them to be full of a magical life of their own, and each story I read goes into deeper depths and hidden truths... I feel P L Travers wrote a children's book, but it is more fitting for the 'child within the adult'... the stories and the way they are told, encourage one's inner child out of hiding again.. If ever I want to feel lifted and transported to greater heights, it's the Mary Poppins books I reach for. I believe P L Travers was a very wise, enlightened soul... she had the true gift of words. It is the greatest disappointment that she never wrote more, but then maybe the magic is like it's own Never Ending Story... if you read between the lines, you'll get a new slant on the moral of the story each time.. Thank you, P L Travers... you made my child very happy! -- posted by emeraldcity10
