» KaraJones - My Fav Twain Quote...

My favorite quote from Mark Twain came from his notebook #42 from 1898 and it reads:
"Favored above Kings and Emperors is the stillborn child." Since my own son was stillborn, it's obvious why this is my fav quote. But Twain was brilliant and so ahead of his time...

Hi BarbaraAnn,

As a fellow literature buff, I'm thrilled to find your new column. I enjoyed your article and look forward to reading more of them.

My summer edition of the Atlantic Monthly arrived yesterday, and it includes a previously unpublished Twain story, "A Murder, A Mystery, and a Marriage." I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure it will be of interest to Twain fans. Apparently, it was submitted to the magazine 150 years ago, which must be the record for reviewing and accepting a story proposal!

Thank you Kara for sharing your Mark Twain quote and your personal tragedy. I think it is a blessing that we can be edified and uplifted by the words and works of great writers. My very best to you.
