Women Mystics in the Late Middle Ages: An IntroductionRead the article this discussion is about

» jlfdd - How about an interesting point? Jesus most faithful Disciples were women.Even the old testament bears this one out. Who was with Him at the cross. His mother, and other women Disciples. None of them ever denied Christ. Several men Disciples did. Why am I as a man, and an educator making this point? Because I think it is long past time to recognize these heroines for who they were, ordinary and extraordinary mystics. Jesus was a mystic. Of this there is no doubt, except among theologians. Your comments are welcome. By the by. Catherine of Siena is my favorite, except for a modern day mystic named Maria Merkur; whos is a serving monk. Her book: Seeing the Holy in the Ordinary" is pure prose poetry. Beauty beyond compare. See my article on this subject at www.shelovesgod.com -- posted by jlfdd
