» IM1 - Good ideas. Thanks, Paul, for all the good ideas on "how to know a CD by its cover." I use to shop that way before I became a Christian. I'd see an album cover (I'm revealing my age), and buy it by faith in my ability to discern. My batting average was about .500 with "worldly-rock" selections. However, since my music tastes have been "born-again" I've relied on the "faith comes by hearing" method. After reading this article, I might just try some of your ideas to see if they'll work for me in this new genre.-- posted by IM1 » Ognyen - Re: Good ideas. In response to message posted by IM1:Since I've started to really hear messages, rather than just overall music, I've been opened up to lots more musical styles. Picking by sight, I might not get quite what I expected, but if the message is good, I'll usually not be disappointed. If you have a chance, ask around before buying by sight. Libraries are great resources for pre-listening (and if your library doesn't stock something, ask about inter-library loans), as are many of the on-line bookstores like Amazon, etc. MP3.com is good, too, and you can search by genre. -- posted by Ognyen » ssparks007 - Prejudice isn't all that bad I think the author was right we all have our prejudices and its good to have.If we are buying or trying on something I tend to think that we as humans use our prejudices to determine wether we buy something or not. Prejudices are good to have as long as we use it in a positive way.-- posted by ssparks007 » gppaul - Prejudice Isn't All That Bad As a person with feelings prejudice is bad and harmful. It is wrong to judge people because of who we are, the mistakes we make in life, and the color of one's skin. It's already bad enough we had to go through slavery and to continue on juging people is not right. We all have feelings and people should respect each other for the sake of making the world a better place.-- posted by gppaul » CLGlover - Prejudice Isn't All That Bad Prejudice has both a negative and positive side. When it comes to a person, prejudice has more of a negative side. When it comes to common sense, as in something being cold or hot, or even too expensive for your pocket, it has a positive side. As far as people, we should love all individuals. We might dislike the act they are doing but we should love still love that person. We all have a heart, we all share feelings.-- posted by CLGlover » chrismsc2005 - prejudice isn't all that bad I thought thta this article was actually pretty interesting. I would have never of thought that using stereotypes to pre-judge something is sometimes a good thing. it is a given fact that all people in the world have some hint of prejudice in them. I believe we should use this sense though in a good way as the author in this piece did with his music selection. I found this article very intriguing and enlightening.-- posted by chrismsc2005 » Ognyen - Prejudice is neither good nor bad Prejudice is like guns, a chainsaw, music, paint, personal choices, and so on. These, by themselves, are neither good nor bad. The good or evil lies how they're all used.Be of good cheer because life here is short, then we get to go home! -- posted by Ognyen
