Hello everyone.

Is anyone here familiar with 4th Avenue Jones? Their sound is very unique I'm not sure what you would label them but its a blend of hip hop, rock and soul music.

What do you guys think of this sound? If you're not familiar with it listen here:

I checked 'em out, and they, indeed, have an intriguing sound. They're on Gotee Records (Toby Mac's label), and all the descriptions I read said they're uplifting, and positive. The other stuff I read and saw indicated nothing more than they might be nice and non-violent folks. Lots of pagan, atheists, and agnostics could fit that. Some of the names even sound a bit Islamic. What can you show me to convince me that they're a Christian act? --OK, Gotee Records is a plus, but not quite enough. I DID like the sounds I heard as I browsed over the links Google.com gave me.

well they've been featured on a couple wow gospel compilations too. If you read their testimony and bio that might give you a better idea of the type of band they are...

they have a page on myspace check it out

OK, maybe I'm blind. I couldn't find any testimony where they said they're Christian, or had a church home or anything like that. I read their story, and re-read it, and did so at other sites as well. Maybe I'll have to wait until my library gets a copy of the CD to be able to see the lyrics and get more info. I even read the messages left by fans.

I did notice they seem to play lots of secular venues, and are associated with or compared to some secular bands.

OK, I guess I gotta say it. I bought a copy of 4th Avenue Jones' Stereo: the Evolution of Hiprocksoul. It's great music, and a review is forth-coming. I got mine at Christian Book Distributers for $9.99 plus S&H, which is most-reasonable if you order more stuff than just one CD. I also got Apt Core's second CD and a couple gifts. I think the review will be included in the up-coming Idol Worship article.

I'll still be trying to get band response for the review. Granted, Gotee's got a good Christian reputation, but that doesn't guarantee everything they put out is scriptually sound.
