Attention Christian Drummers!
This archived discussion is "read only".
» kathy_i - Drumming I'm just teaching myself how to play the drums. I want to begin playing along with my friend who plays the keyboard, but I find that I really need drum notation for the music that I want to play to. Does anyone out there have any suggestions, or willing to share some drum notation for some of the more popular choruses, like Shout to the Lord, The Name of the Lord, Lord I Lift Your Name, Jesus We Celebrate, Let There Be Glory, I Worship You, More Precious Than Silver, Let the Walls Fall Down, Shine Jesus Shine, Refiners Fire, Power of Your Love.I guess what I'm having the most troule with is knowing where to stick in a fill. My books say "at the end of a phrase", but I haven't really figured that out. You can email me at irion@telusplanet.net. I would really appreciate any help out there! Thanks! God bless-- posted by sniper191983 » bj227395 - Re: Drumming In response to Drumming posted by kathy_i:After you get the flow of the song down, a good time to stick in a fill is when the song goes from a verse to the chorus and vice-versa. Like in Shout to the Lord, after the verse says "every breath, all that I am, never cease to worship you"--stick in a fill after the word "you" fades out to go into the chorus. Once you get a fill of most songs, you will be able to feel when to do a fill. Does that help any? i hope it does Feel free to email me back at mr_bjones16@yahoo.com -- posted by bj227395 » chadcarr - Re: Drumming In response to Drumming posted by kathy_i:I saw that you were a new drummer and just thought I'd congradualate you on your blessing. I consider it an honor God gave me the talent of drumming. I've been playing for over 20 yrs. and thank him for my gift. You stated you were having problems learning where to fill? My advise is to shut your eyes and start to count. As you count God will show you how to apply your limbs. Start by playing solid in time. After you have accomplished this then apply your fills. Learning to count the song is the most important thing for you to do. That way you no where "1" is. Also, the more you listen and play, together, the more muscle memory you create. This very important too. Good luck and God bless. -- posted by chadcarr
