I received a newsletter from a local church in inner city Chicago a few days ago. This church, Uptown Baptist, runs a women's shelter and a feeding program for the poor and homeless who live on the streets. Winter is fast approaching and they have a tremendous need for new warm winter boots and adult size winter gloves. Many homeless are left in the cold when harsh winter weather hits the city. I've lived near Uptown Baptist and I can tell you the heartbreak when you have nothing to give a homeless man or woman who comes in from the cold.
