Need paint color advice
This archived discussion is "read only".
» Ysan07 - Paint color advice I've painted my bedroom a very pale lilac color (Behr's French Heirloom;-)) and am now ready to paint the wood window trim and baseboards with some paint leftover that my mother has. It is antique white (or what I'd call, cream) and I think it will go well against the lilac walls... only the ceiling and radiator are white.Does this sound like too many shades in one room? I have a chocolate brown tufted headboard if that helps, and planned on incorporating other colors like maybe soft green tones. I'm a little lost though. Any help offered is welcome! -- posted by Ysan07 » Barbara Nicholson Bell - Re: Paint color advice In response to message posted by Ysan07:Lilac is one of my very favorite colors, and I think the choice of a cream color for the trim is perfect. The chocolate brown is a dark neutral that will enhance the lilac, and soft greens as accents are just right. Many decorators use a four-color palette, with a medium color (the lilac), a light and dark (cream and brown) for contrasts and a fourth color that complements the main color for accent (the greens). So you've chosen colors that will work together very successfully. If you prefer a feminine, traditional look, there are literally dozens of bedding patterns featuring florals with the lilac and green colors. A more masculine look could go with solid color bedding in cream and brown, with striped pillows and window treatments picking up the other colors. For a contemporary decor, you can add brushed aluminum table lamps, picture frames, even an occasional table for a sleek look that goes well with these colors. Don't worry about the ceiling - in lamplight it won't look stark white and in daylight it's mostly shadowed. The radiator could be turned into an extra shelf or table with the addition of a small slab of marble, a wooden tray top, or tiles. Hope this helps! -- posted by Barbara Nicholson Bell
