off balance
This archived discussion is "read only". « Previous 1 2 Next » » Tery01 - Re: Re: unbalanced In response to message posted by doc310:I find it interesting that this discussion started while I am going through the same thing. I am going for an Ear Irrigation today as My ear is filled with wax. I get very dizzy at times and the room spins. I fall over somewhat and my neck is killing me as well. However, I have been battling SOME kind of Chronic Illness for over 4 years now and not having insurance at this time I have yet to be diagnosed. I believe that it could be either Fibromyalgia or Lupus as I have so many symptoms of both and Lupus runs in my family. But recently my body is starting to feel numb. My hands, feet, waist, pelvic area, and head go numb all the time. I urinate frequently and my arms and legs give out all the time. Now I don't know whether to see a Neurologist or a Rheumotologist. ANy suggestions? Thank you -- posted by Tery01 » doc310 - Re: Re: Re: unbalanced In response to message posted by Tery01:Hi Tery01, I would first see a neurologist as they are much less likely to label you right off with fibromyalgia. Your neurological symptoms need to be looked into at some depth and these specialists are good. I have less faith in rheumatologists. Please keep in touch as your case sounds somewhat unusual. I have been with the Fibro Group here at Suite 101 for a year now. They are wonderful people and I just keep thinking in my head that maybe it is Fibro or Lupus, but now MS is in the back of my mind. I have Lupus symptoms, Fibro Symptoms, and MS symptoms, but I know that these all mask one another and other illnesses. I have been in pain for 4 years and it just keeps getting worse or progressing, I guess. I guess I am just looking for answers. I did get the Ear irrigation yesterday and My internist insists that I see a Neurologist now. She says that it might very well be MS as my arms and legs always feel heavy. Thanks for your response, any help is greatly appreciated. -- posted by Tery01 » doc310 - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: unbalanced In response to message posted by Tery01:Hi Again, Tery01, I said that your symptoms were somewhat unusual mainly because your pattern of numbness. To experience those sensations in the pelvic area is not common, especially for the 2 disease processes that you suggested you might have: Lupus or Fibromyalgia. Unfortunately, MS is looming large; however, you haven't mentioned loss of equilibrium, difficulties with speech, which are 2 of the more common MS symptoms. Have you looked at your diet? Nutrition is very important especially in the area of Fatty Acids. David Phillips -- posted by doc310 » Tery01 - unbalanced In response to message posted by doc310:
I eat salads everyday, fruits and veggies, I am not a big meat eater, never was and I don't eat a lot of fried foods. Don't eat potato chips, sometimes chips and salsa but in moderation. Don't eat a lot of dairy, but once in awhile low-fat milk with my Raisin Bran. I am not overweight, but could lose about 10 pounds. I am actually in a size 7-8 pants so I am not an overweight person. Actually, my equillibrium was off as that is why I had the ear irrigation done, but since then I am still dizzy, the room spins, I fall sideways once in a while and at times my arms feel so heavy that it is hard to even wash my hair. It is puzzling and mind boggling to me, but I am hanging in there. When I saw this discussion, I came to it as I could relate to the off balance. My hand went very numb last night and so did my right ankle. I guess, I just like to hear other people's opinion, but the Nutrition factor, I eat rather well and I guess I try to eat everything in moderation. I have beef maybe once every two weeks, but that is it. Thanks again -- posted by Tery01 » stephv21 - Re: unbalanced I feel the same way as you...I suffer from panic attacks on a weekly basis. I hadn't had a panic attack since Jan. 2003, and now I started having them again starting last month. I don't know why all of a sudden they started again, but i'm really getting sick of having them. I feel exactly the same way as you. I feel very unbalanced, ecspecially when I am walking. When I am sitting still I do not feel it as much. I have no idea what it is or why I have it, but I want it to go away also. It makes me feel better in a way that i'm not the only one going through it, but if someone may know what it is please respond.-- posted by stephv21 » ablasco1214 - off balance In response to off balance posted by starvn123:Hi, I'm 23 and have been on the birth control shot depo provera for 1 year. I have 2 kids. I started one day with dizziness, hot, clammy, and became sick to my stomach. I thought I was starting with the stomach flu until it continued leaving me with only dizziness. I've always had a stiff neck/neck pain; but I've also been in 2 car accidents-neither my fault. I've always been thinking my neck pain is from the accidents. The last 2 months I've been dizzy, neck ache and headaches every now and then. It's very difficult to drive and I'm not supposed to because my judgement is off. If I turn a corner, I worry I will not see someone crossing or another car turning. My family doctor diagnosed me with vertigo. I'm currently on pills called meclazine; which is also taken for being sea sick. Its supposed to be taken every 6 hrs. These pills only help a little for about 3 hours. I've had a c-scan and it was negative. I have absolutely no clue what is wrong and don't know if its related to birth control, car accidents or nothing at all, but the headaches and off balance sounds so similar to the previous story. My balance problem is worse when in a car. Sitting doesn't always help. But its time to figure out what this is since I've been out of work for it. I also took predizone for 1 week; he said it could help shut down part of the body controlling the equilibrium and it might make me feel better. -- posted by ablasco1214 « Previous 1 2 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
