Thanks Dr. Phillips for the information.

How can this dizziness be eleviated? If I saw an ENT and they are saying that my ears are fine (I have one that is infected, but I have a bad cold and they are both popping and plugging, etc.); what is the solution from a chiropractic stand point? What can your type of specialty do to relieve the problem?

Thanks again,
TBoro

Hi Again, TBoro,
I don't understand why your ENT would say your ears are fine when one is infected and both are plugged. I would get that under control before anything else. Oregano oil is really great here. Chiropractic in this area helps to improve drainage from the ears, sinuses, eustacian tubes and head in general. Fluid in these areas is fairly normal, but a circulation and open drainage is critical. If the circulation is reduced, by muscle tightness for example, the fluid becomes static, and infection is the natural result.

As far as cervicogenic vertigo, chiropractic can help tremendously by improving the motions of the upper neck where the nerves to the head originate. These nerves work with a branch of the nervous system known as the proprioceptive system. This is what controls your balance and positional awareness. When this part of the nrevous system gets interference, dizziness results.
I hope this clarifies things for you somewhat.
Regards,
Dr. David Phillips

» TBoro - Another question....

Hi Dr. Phillips

My doctor put me on 2000 mg/day antibiotics to ensure that if there is an infection in my neck area (he was concerned of menengitis) that it would start to relieve the pain and get rid of the infection. The pain has still not subsided, but it does seem to change. The pain seems to be in my neck and shoulders, but then my ears recently popped, the pain changed and now it is in my upper neck. When I am sitting with my head down for a few minutes too long, it creates pain in my neck. When I open my jaw it aches in the back where it opens and closes and I feel like my head weighs about 100 lbs. Does this sound normal????

It really comes down to me feeling almost paranoid that something else is wrong. I had to see four specialists before they finally diagnosed me with Graves and I have a hard time immediately trusting Dr's.

With the antibiotics not working, does that even make this condition sound more like muscular or more like something else...

Thanks for all of the help,
TBoro

Hi TBoro,
Your neck and TMJ pains could stil be muscular/spinal; however, I'm pleased to hear that your physician reamins actively involved with you. I assume that you had just started the antibiotics when you last wrote to me. Give them a longer time to work. TMJ is often involved when a person has neck problems. I can't say it's exactly "normal", but it is common. Please keep me informed.

Hi Dr. Phillips

I finished my last dose of Antibiotics today. I am noticing that as I am using Sudafed to drain my cold, it seems to be helping with my neck.

I still have dizziness; some days it is worse than others.

I don't feel that the antibiotics did anything for me; or atleast not for my neck.

I see multiple specialists so I will be sure to re-inquire.

I hate not having defined answers for my medical concerns. Everyone keeps stating that a majority of it is the pregnancy and after that is done, I will feel a whole lot better. Due to me being a questionable patient due to my history, I don't always believe that.

My previous pregnancy was as easy as it could be an now this one has been quite challenging.

It's nice to be able to hear another opinon.

Thanks again for all of your help and I will keep you updated.

In response to Re: Question posted by doc310:

I have a similar hump that seems to make my neck protrude, although mine is much more noticeable and I'm becoming self-conscious about it. When I look in the mirror and attempt to have the best posture possible, the line from my neck and shoulders still has a forward curvature with a small, fatty area between the top of my shoulders. I am not fat, in fact, I am on the thin side. My sister is overweight and has the same type of forward protrusion of her neck/head. My hump is higher than what I've studied of Kyphosis.

I just took up dancing but feel insecure about wearing anything that isn't collared, because my side profile doesn't look good, because of the way my head sits on my neck.

I'd appreciate any advice on how I could possibly correct this. I have been to numerous chiropractors and none of them have ever said anything about this, although I'm now just starting to feel insecure about it. I'm 39.

Thank you.

I have the urge to stretch my neck musles all the time and keep turning my head left and right for no perticular reason and i think people see me as a mad man. I saw many doctors in my life and tried many therapy's, but nothing works. I have never been diagnost with any problem and i had many x-rays and MRI's made through out my life. At the moment my neck muscles are tired and my head feels heavy all the time. I need to know if anybody out there has simillar problems and if he found any cure..

» csail - neck question

Hi. I have had a boney bump on the back of my neck for as long as I can remember.. i think.. but I'm not sure if it is normal or not.. isn't the top portion of the spine usually straight without any protrusions? This is a small protrusion, but I was just wondering if it sounds normal or not?
