So many good shows seem to get lost in Never-Never land. It seems to me that few shows not made in the USA are not shown in the USA. Why? Darned if I know.

That's not necessarily the case, but it's fairly close to reality.

On PBS Kids' currently 16 program line-up, five programs are Canadian (Arthur, The Berenstein Bears, Calliou, Cyberchase, George Shrinks), and at least one is British (the Teletubbies).

In the past, shows on PBS Kids, from Canada, have included Anne of Green Gables, Kratts' Creatures, Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse, Seven Little Monsters, Timothy Goes to School, Zoboomafoo.

But besides American public broadcasting and beyond preschool audiences, Canadians, Brits and the rest of the world are pretty limited.

However, one type of foreign programming that does extremely well on American television -- anime.
