» Jo Murphy - The "Drooping The Kids Off" Thing

Okay I meant dropping.
I am single 44 hmm! People do actually think that they can drop the kids off! They clothe this in a garb of doing me a favour.
Tell the kids they can play in my office!
Kids aren't that bad really. Not intrinsically. The point is that anyone who thinks they can just drop their kids off unexpectedly are going to have kids with the same kind of attitude.

I enjoy being child free. I teach and get my kiddy kicks that way.
I've learnt to set boundaries and I go out if I want company. I don't feel the slightest bit of guilt for feeling this way.

Hope you had a great Christmas,
Jo

» nosprogsAH - Growing Old Alone?

Many childed people do end up growing old alone. The scenes of adoring adult children and grandchildren crowding around Grandma and Grandpa are only a Norman Rockwell fantasy. This only happens in his paintings and re-runs of "The Waltons". The sad reality is that the majority of the elderly are alone in their old age. Their grown kids do not come around and the grandchildren are only at their grandparents' side when they know that gifts or money will be given. Go to any nursing home and speak to the residents who wait each day for a visit from a son or daughter. I have an elderly neighbor whose grown-up children rarely come around. My husband is the one who has done many of her errands instead of her "adoring" children.
