» nosprogsAH - Re: famous childfrees

I would love to have a CF president but unfortunately both parties have been hijacked by the "family values" b.s. I would have preferred Gore to have gotten in because he is not as anti-choice and pro-forced religion as Dubya. However, little Al and his Tipper are very breeder-minded with their brood. Karenna had to be on stage for almost every appearance her father made and talk about her rugrat. Tipper was all for the censorship of musical lyrics because how it might damage "widdle pweshus" rather than demand that PARENTS take responsibility for what their kids listen to instead of blaming the music industry. I think that politics has only gone downhill.

Mo Mowlam: Cabinet minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (UK)

found at http://www.peoplenews.com/delivery/commo...

Add her age (50) to the quote, and you have one CF woman :-)

» veganvenus - Janis Joplin?

I saw a video of her at the rock and roll hall of fame saying 'after high school we were supposed to get married and start having babies, and remain quiet. i did none of those things' (to the best of my memory.) I read several of her bio's, none mention children. I know she died young, but many women had children by that age, and the quote made it sound quite purposeful.

Frida Kahlo, Dorothy Parker, and Lauren Hutton should be classified as childless, not childfree. Dolly Parton recently adopted...

More childfree and/or marriage free by choice I don't think you have on your list: Leonardo Da Vinci, Ludwig Van Beethoven, consumer advocate Ralph Nader, Mae West, children's book author Maurice Sendak

» Rubylox - Famous Childfree People

I don't have another name to add to the category. I believe that there was an error in including Frida Khalo as a childfree person. Having read various biographies about her life, it is a well known fact that she desperately wanted to have children (she had many miscarriages) but couldn't have them due to a trolly accident. She was childless, not childfree. My personal position is that I am childfree, i.e. of my own choice.
