Hens adopting chicks

We want a couple new hens for our small city farm. (Currently we have 2 ducks and 1 hen and get 1 duck egg and 1 chicken egg each day - usually.)

But the hen is old. We'd like to get about three fertilized eggs and have the hen hatch and raise them.

Any advice and experiences out there?
