» calicokitty1 - Polydactyl Cats

Hi Caroline!
I enjoyed your interesting article about polydactyl cats. While my four kitties have the normal number of toes, my tuxedo cat, Otie claims to have served as a "feline muse" to Ernest Hemingway!
Keep up the good work!

» SandyMcC - Awwww

I can't find my digital photos of my poly!sad I'll keep looking. But this article is very interesting - I'd always heard that multi-toed cats were of high intelligence. Most likely it's myth too, but Toes is from a litter of multi-mult-toed cats! smile All of the kittens in this one's cats three litters have extra toes. The one named Toes has nine on one foot, seven on another, and her hind feet have six each. She looks like she has big hands lol. She's a longhair, so her feet really look huge. And, she is pretty smart... ;)

» Joy Butler - Polydactyls

I checked my cat too and he is not polydactyl but this was quite interesting. We once had a small dog come through the shelter who had two long toes on each front foot but the two outside toes were were way up on the side of his "ankle". He was very sweet and we always said he had "special toes".

» RoxanneN - Poly kitties

One of my two ultra spoiled kitties has an extra toe. And what's more, she one of the mellow ones who actually lets you touch and squeeze her paws. Her front feet look really big because of the extra toe, and it looks like she's wearing mittens. When she curls them up, it looks like she has on boxing gloves.

In response to message posted by RoxanneN:

I have a poly cat, but I have always called him a "mitten kitten" because his front paws look like mittens. He uses his extra toe just as I use my thumb. He is forever opening doors, drawers and boxes.

» jojoe74 - Is my cat Polydactyl

Hi there. I really want to know if my cat "FREAK" is a polydactyl she has thumbs on each of her paws. She has 5 toes including thumbs on each of her paws. She has just had a kitten with the same paws as her. So if you could let me know. Thank you.
