» pmf2 - Pancreatitus (SP?)

i am just back from the animal hospital; my cat ingested about 4-6 azalea leaves. i took him in after observing him for 4 hours; his vomiting had worsened into heaves/convulsions and he was rather unsteady on his legs. although the vet was EXCEPTIONALLY uninterested in identifying the leaves (which he able to expel, thank the gods!), i pursued the matter and confirmed that they were azaleas, which are indeed toxic.

the doctor called earlier to say she has diagnosed pancreatitis and an inflamed liver; she said she would consult with the poison control center and let me know their plan of action.

i guess i am wondering if there is anyone out there who can comment on what the healing process is like for pancreatitis and liver inflammation; if the ingestion of azalea leaves is likely to leave my cat with a chronic condition; or any other insights.

Thanks SO much in advance for any comments,

my kind regards,

PMF
