» aco - Pooping

Hello, I just got a new kitten, not sure of it's actual age, but she's around 1-2 months. For the most part she seems perfectly healthy. However she does seem to poop a lot. My question, if anyone can answer it is: How many times does a kitten have to poop in a day for it to be called diahrea? I feed the kitten 3 times a day on a set schedule. I can't say for certain the exact number of times my cat poops, but when I come home from work each day, the litter box is pretty full.

Thanks

» Caroline - Hi Aco

Diarrhea is not just pooping a lot - its *runny* and is hard on the body (dehydrates, weakens, etc). Cats use the litterbox an average of 5 times per day and kittens might use it more!
Has your kitty seen a vet? That's one of the first things you should do.

Please let us know more about your kitten Aco.
:-)

» aco - Vet

Actually my kitten (haven't picked a name yet) hasn't seen a vet, although I would love to bring her to one. The problem is that I live in a relatively small city in Japan, and I haven't been able to find one. Or it could be that my japanese is so poor that no one know what the hell I am asking for. hehe
Anyway, I'd really like to bring her to a vet cause she was actually part of a group of four kittens that a co-worker found abandonded on a street. And she was given the choices of either finding homes, abandoning them again, or having them put down. :-(
Anyway, as to my original topic, I'd say that she goes to the litter box bought 5-10 times a day so I guess that's normal, and her feces isn't runny. I've seen cat poop before and I guess it looks normal. She also has lots of energy when I play with her so I'm guessing that she's ok. I'll still have to look around for a vet though.

Thanks

I know another person named Aco - very nice lady. Best wishes with your kitten - do tell us all about him when you can (and decide on a name!)

I was reading about Aco with the kitty she thought had diarrhea...I have a kitten that is 2 months or so old who does have diarrhea (runny). He plays and doesn't act like he doesn't feel well...has a good appetite, etc. A couple of times within the past week he has had blood on his bottom and sometimes it seems to ooze. Does anyone know what might be going on? Please let me know. Thanks!

MY kitten has the same problem! could someone please let me know what is going on? i don't think that a kitten should have to run to the litterbox to go to the bathroom and barely make it and when it goes it is runny and has blood in it, what can i do?

» gizmo12 - Stinky Poop with drippage

My cat is about 15 years old and her poop will run everyone out of the house. It has been that way for several years, after she stopped going out cattin' around. Lately her poop is really soft (not diarrhea) and she drips some from her little booty while walking through my apartment. Anyone have any suggestions? She eats Innova for the more rotund kittys which she selected herself out of 12 or so varieties I offered her. She goes to the vet regularly, but hasn't been since the drippage thing.

» donatti13 - blood in poop!!!

my male cat has been with me since i was 3,he is around 11 years old.I am fourteen. My poor boy has gone through moving and a new kitten in the house, witch has led to him pooping/peeing around the house. So my mom took him to the vet to check for a urinary tract infection. there was none and she was mad she wasted about $150. now he is living in our fixed up basement with all his food, water, and litter box.we visit him and he is fine. then today we brought him up and were petting him. we left and came back to a glup of poop it wasn't solid but not a liquid...just smoshy.and in it was a glop of blood that was runny like an egg yolk. he is old and i don't want him to suffer but i really don't want to put him down! does anyone know what is wrong with my kitty? please write if you do.
