We have a 6yr old neutered black female who sometime ssuffers from hair loss on her back towards her tail end. During grooming she ingests the hairs which causes her to nretch. Any suggestive cures / comments appreciated.

Thank You

My bengal cat has thinning hair around the head area and a significant loss around the legs and belly. My fiancee thinks it is just a previous flea problem that we have since treated in every way we could. I was worried about the effects of ammonia from their urine on them. I cannot stand the smell of ammonia and my fiancee doesn't notice it at all anymore because he always had many cats in the house growing up. The two cats sleep in a medium sized bedroom completely set up for them with two cat boxes. I haven't found anything to support my fears so I'm leaning towards it being fleas, cancer, or genetics. The cancer is of course the extreme possibility I have found in my research due to its location and mostly lack of sores. Anyone else find anything further?

I have a 5 year old neutered male who is losing his hair on the undersides of his back legs. Has anyone found a simple reason and also a cure?
I was thinking maybe it was either a result of his rabies vaccine - or that he was chewing on a new aloe vera plant that I got. Any input on either of these theories??

» iluvmy4cats - cat losing hair on legs

my cat is a male, 7 yrs old, and he's lost A LOT of hair on the backs of his hind legs. i don't think it's ringworm because wouldn't my 3 other cats have gotten it, too? if anybody can tell me what it could be or what i can do i'd really appreciate it.

we have a two year old female polly who is losing fur all over her legs and it is now starting to spread she sleeps in the same cat bed as our two year old male george and there is absolutely nothing wrong with him at all so if it was something contagious..... eg mites or ticks..... surely he would have it too. any ideas anyone please?

» dyanp - Re: Cat Hair loss

My cat is almost three and is spayed and she started losing her hair on her belly and back legs. there are also some small patches that are thinning on the fronts of her hind legs. I called the vet and was given a list of possibilities but not told that this is life threatening or treatable. I also have dogs that brought fleas into the house in the fall. I treated all four pets, 2 cats, 2 dogs, with Hartz flea med and then Advantex from the vet. Also the fleas gave them tape worms so the female cat that lost her hair was given a dewormer vaccination, while the male cat, who still has his hair was given a pill. I was told that it could be an allergic reaction to one of any of these. Does any one have a solution?
