» Caroline - Welcome!

Snerd (you'll have to tell us about that one...)
5-6 months is normal for some Asian breeds, specifically the Siamese. Most take a bit longer, but not much!
Sounds like its time for her to be spayed. :-)
Best wishes with your kitten. Wanna tell us all about her?

» snerd - Just a mix

Hi Caroline. She's just a mix, but cute. Grey and black, with a racoon-striped tail, and one pink toe pad. Will try to get a photo taken and post it.

Yes, my son has already set up appointment to have her spayed next week.

» pepperc - kitty gas

My cats used to have that lovely quality but when I took them off all fish food, it cleared up. The best and least gassy food is Iams cat chow. Canned tuna is the worst!

» Caroline - Good to hear

about your kitties. Thanks for the tip about fish food Pepper...too much fish is bad for them anyway. :-)

» Dano29 - Great article!

I just read your article Caroline, it was very informative. I guess that's why Buddy likes to flop over and expose his stomach for scratching...makes sense!
Thanks for the great articles and discussion forum......now I want to go back and read some more of the articles.

» Caroline - ah shucks Dan

Such high praise.
I love to see my cats flop. Van is the big "flopper" in our house. Just one look or coming through the door and its "FLOP!". :-)

» QuartzNH - I love this article

I had to respond when someone asked if cats were ticklish. My cat is very ticklish. When your cat is sleeping, lightly tickle one of their feet. like a baby. if they move thier feet quickly away, you know your answer. My cat, I swear he has Tiger in him. He's a tiger cat, and looks like a mini tiger and acts like one. Sometimes I never know when he's about to get into one of those moods when he wants to play rough. It's like he's attacking, or maybe he is.
Anyways, He's usually well behaved and lovable.

In response to As independent as cats are posted by CarolWallace:

From what i've read, so long as the bites are timid and claws not too damaging, that is an extreme sign of affection in the cat world. A cat doesn't show it's tummy unless it "totally" trusts you. Big complement.
