Male Cats

I have a nine year old blue point siamese. He is the sweetest boy ever! Loves humans and never hides from visitors. My son frequently visits with his dog, and while they have never really been loose together they have been nose to nose and my boy doesn't seem the least bit disturbed. I am in the process of speaking to a breeder about taking home a male lilac point kitten. Do you have any tips about this process of introduction? Does male to male work or is male to female better? Any help would be so appreciated. I really want to do the right thing.
