» Bill_Samuel - Thanks Thanks for an exceptionally fine article. Henri Nouwen's ministry has touched many, many people. You did a great job telling something of his story and communicating the spirit that shone in his ministry.I don't usually rate articles, but I couldn't stop myself from giving this article 5 stars! -- posted by Bill_Samuel » StCatherine - Thanks, Bill I got stuck writing this one. Did you notice it was late?I really believe "the other world" has something to do with many of my article topic choices. One of Nouwen's themes is brokenness. I was feeling quite "broken" for the past several weeks with a couple of viruses I had caught. Just can't control your schedule when coughing and sneezing is controlling you. And I have recently found out I have Hepatitis C. So, I'm been thinking, "Gee, you are more 'broken' than you thought." It is an excellent time in my life to immerse myself in Nouwen's writing. And, as I was reading Nouwen discuss how the painting helped nudge him to accept a pastorate at the L'Arche Daybreak community for the mentally handicapped, one of our neighborhood mentally handicapped persons turned to me for help during a crisis in his life. Until two weeks ago, we had only discussed the weather. So, I certainly thought the timing was "more" than a coincidence. I'm glad you enjoyed the article. The book certainly made a difference in my life. -- posted by StCatherine
